Please check times as we have made some changes in order to make our winter meetings more accessible by holding them in the afternoon rather than evening.
On 21st March at 2pm Henry Chance gave his talk Chance Brothers Glass Works to a bumper crowd of members and visitors who very much enjoyed his talk.
16th May 8pm start. Ray Sturdy – Spirit of Triumph. (history of Triumph motorcycles) Ray will take us back to 1902 before heading,at a steady speed to more present times. Door and weather permitting we Triumph motorcycle in the hall ….Vroom …Vroom. ( This talk is already stirring interest from bikers as far away as Gloucestershire…)
19th September 8pm Start. Ned Williams – Any Old Iron, corrugated iron in architecture. Ned, another popular and entertaining speaker, will lead us through the interesting world of corrugated Iron in architecture. (Are we thinking prefabs?)
21st November 2pm start . Tim Cornah – Hartlebury Castle’s Civil War Archaeology . Tim has a busy schedule digging up the past in the local and wider area of Worcestershire. He was very much involved in with the dig at Hartlebury Castle and will tell us about the finds from the Civil War. ( Will Tim have us out of our seats keen to help unearth historic treasures at his next dig? We can start sorting out our knee pads and gloves in preparation.)
VISITS 2024
8th August 2024 – Coach Trip – RODMARTON MANOR, Cirencester , Gloucestershire.
This will be a shared event between Clent History Society/ Clent Gardening Club and Clent WI.
Rodmarton Manor is a grade 1 listed building constructed in the early 20th Century in an Arts and Crafts style. During WW2 evacuees were housed at Rodmarton and was also used as a maternity house due to the shortage of midwives. The trip includes a tour of the house, which is open between 2pm and 5pm. There will be plenty of time to explore the wonderful gardens, including kitchen garden.
Lunch stop will be at Dobbies Garden Centre. GL7 6EU – 12pm. which is only 15mins from Rodmarton. You can bring own packed lunch or eat at Dobbies (refreshments are not included in the price of the trip)
Cost. £30-£35 (depending on numbers needed to cover cost of the coach. Check later.)

Thursday 4th July 2024- Share and self drive visit to Chaddesley Corbett. Cost £15. per person.
This visit to a small private collection of WW2 and 1940’s memorabilia includes cream scones and tea. Numbers are limited to 12 people. Wheelchairs or prams cannot be accommodated due to space limitations.
