An Armchair Ramble
This is a beautiful introduction to Clent. It takes the form of an armchair ramble around the village of Clent. With the help of old postcards and their sometimes heavy nostalgia, such as:
The sun shines brightly all the day,
The views are most divine,
so board the train and come along,
and have a jolly good time at CLENT
With the photographs of holidaymakers enjoying grass sliding and picnics, the book is a happy reminder of those days of welcome escape, when workers from surrounding towns made their way to Clent.
There is a helpful centrefold map to help readers locate the places which are illustrated and brief notes are given next to the pictures.
First prinited in 1988, Clent Remembered is a beautiful photographic record of the village’s past. Sadly it is now out of print but ‘watch this space’
